Shri Yalanadu Jagadguru Education Society was established in 1964 by Shri.Basavarajendra Deshikendra Mahaswamiji Of Yalanadu math to provide quality education to Poor and rural students. Vivekananda College of Education, offering a Bachelor’s Degree course in Education for prospective teachers, was established in 1974 under the aegis of the Sri Yalanadu Jagadguru Education Society. The Seer of Yalanadu Arsikere Mahasamsthana is the president of this education society. Affiliated to the University of Mysore, the college caters mainly to the needs of rural people aspiring to become teachers in high schools. It was accredited by NAAC at ‘A’ Grade with CGPA 3.02. Located on the main Bangalore-Honnavar highway N.H 206, the campus sits on 2.5 acres on the outskirts of town (Arsikere is located 165 KM West of State capital Bangalore) amidst the tranquil environment of green thotas (coconut groves) and quiet hills. The number of educational institutions kept increasing on par with the burgeoning population's educational aspirations. As more and more Government and private schools and colleges were established, the lack of efficient trained teachers became a major problem - a lacunae which exists to this day.The establishment of Vivekananda College of education was therefore a godsend to the areas institutions. The famous historical places of Belur, Helebedu&Shravanabelagula are also close by. The town is also a tourist destination because of the very popular MalekalThirupathi Betta (hills) of LORD VENKATESHWARA. The Shivalaya Temple of Lord Shiva was made during the ancient HOYSALA period, which depicts its rich art and architecture.
I am extremely happy to welcome you our site: www.vcednasrke.org It has been recognized all over the world that education is the key to the progress of the world and brotherhood of man. It is obvious that the teacher is the central figure in the process of education. His professional training and the role for ushering in a new social order are a sine-quo-non for the progress of mankind. Today, Indian education in general, and teacher education in particular, is facing problems like more quantity and less quality, more mechanism and less organism, a body without a soul. This leads to disintegration in all walks of life. > Teacher education is an integral component of the educational system. It is closely connected with society and conditioned by culture, ethos and character of a nation. Teaching the teacher means building a new society. The onus of bringing about qualitative change in people at large lies with teachers. Hence a completely dedicated, well-versed and competent teacher is indispensable in a society.
